GSU; the concrete jungle, home of the Owls... no no Home of the Panthers. Georgia State University has its own unique history in its 102 years. Originally a night school, a branch of Ga Tech, it eventually became an institute of its own, Georgia State College, home of the Owls (and You thought KSU was unique). Beyond the institutional history, the land that GSU sits on has a deep history of its own. These streets housed the old Atlanta Police Department and Kimball House for many years. It was home to the Atlanta Race Riots. Even though the police station was just down the street, there were speakeasies, bars, tons of fun. Along with all that was a very diverse neighborhood, Grady and then the building of GSU. Oh, how things change. Take a look around and live the history.
